💼 We’re Hiring: Senior VAT Consultant – Tax Department (BDO Bahrain)
Our growing Tax Department is looking for a highly motivated Senior VAT Consultant to join the team.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of premier clients across key regional sectors, including Financial Services, Real Estate, FMCG, and Hospitality. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality VAT compliance services, managing client relationships, and driving the growth of our VAT practice.
📝 Key Responsibilities
- Advisory & Compliance: Support the team in delivering high-quality VAT advisory and compliance services to a broad client portfolio.
- Engagement Management: Lead and manage complex VAT engagements from planning through to completion, applying sound technical judgment and identifying risk areas.
- Client Relationship: Serve as the primary point of contact for allocated clients, delivering commercially practical VAT advice that adds real value.
- Technical Research: Conduct detailed analysis of Bahrain VAT legislation, Executive Regulations, Ministerial Resolutions, and NBR guidance.
- Market Monitoring: Stay ahead of developments in Bahrain VAT and relevant regional VAT frameworks, including cross-border implications.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and mentor junior and mid-level VAT team members with technical guidance and constructive feedback.
- Risk & Compliance: Perform KYC, client due diligence, and conflict of interest procedures in line with internal regulatory requirements.
- Financial Management: Ensure timely issuance and clearance of client invoices.
🎯 Key Attributes
- Expert Knowledge: Strong and up-to-date knowledge of Bahrain VAT Law, Executive Regulations, and NBR administrative procedures.
- Leadership Skills: Proven capability in team mentoring, delegation, and workload management.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (Arabic language skills are an advantage).
- Organized & Analytical: Highly detail-oriented, commercially aware, and capable of managing multiple engagements under deadline pressure.
🎓 Experience & Qualifications
- Professional Qualification: Mandatory certification from a recognized accountancy or tax body (ACCA, CIOT, ADIT, or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience, primarily within a Bahrain VAT-focused role in a professional services environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics, or a related discipline.
